Shaker Time Small Carriage Clock

This design was inspired by the spirit drawings seen at recent exhibitions dedicated to Shaker life. Many of these drawings contain elegant images of clocks decorated with flowers and greenery. From there, it was an easy step to designing an actual clock reflecting those motifs. This clock fits into a small carriage clock.

Leaping Hart

This design could be stitched as a small nontraditional wedding sampler. It was inspired by an ancient cylindrical seal in the collection of the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City. The description of the seal referenced some lines from the Song of Solomon, which we've paraphrased as:

My beloved is like a young hart, leaping upon the mountains. He calls to me: My love, come away!

Reticella Accessories -- Limited Edition Chart Pack

Reticella is a fine-needle lace technique often used on table and bed linens. The reticella pieces for embellishing these accessories were salvaged from an irreparably damaged antique linen bed sheet, and are simply whipstitched onto the accessor ies. The flower motif, which is stitched over one for the scissor fob and over two for the pin cushion and scissorcase, mirrors the bed sheets lace edging.

Included in chart pack -- large and small reticella lace motifs for embellishing each accessory piece.

Flower motif stitch count: 29 wide x 21 high
Fabric: Lakeside Linens Fawn in 28 count for scissor fob and pin cushion; and 32 count for scissorcase
Fibers: Sampler Threads from The Gentle Art

Nana's Sampler (Donata D'Aquila 1900)

This is an adaptation of a sampler stitched by the grandmother of Cynthia Aquila, one of Arachne

s designers. The original was stitched in Italy in 1900 when Donata was 13 years old, about six years before she and her mother came to the United States. The alphabets represented are Italian, which means that some letters -- j, k, w, y -- are missing. Weve included a chart for a full English alphabet, both capital and small letters, so you can add your own name and the date stitched.
